Before I was always in to going out with friends and not caring about bills and other things an older person does. But as time goes by with out knowing I became more responsible for everything I have. Now I have a car payment a cell phone bill and credit cards to pay. Now if I don’t make my payments on time or if I make the wrong decisions like spend my money in other stuff that I don’t need it will hurt me not someone else. Making the right decisions is what I’ve been noticing about my self changing . This happen after high school when I started working, it was a good thing for me because there are a lot of people still making wrong choices in life including some friends but I decided not to go the wrong way. Becoming an adult gradually started hitting me, know I’ve notice that I always think twice before I do something or spend money on something. My parents always raised my sisters and I to be responsible with our life’s . One of the Main thing I change my point of view was school, when I was in high school I was the typical young girl that didn’t like school and I would always told my self I couldn’t wait to get out and not go to college and just have a job at where ever. Once I got out of high school I wanted to go back because I didn’t know high school years where easy compare to after high school and it was hard looking for a good paying job. That’s when I realize I needed to go back to school and have a career in order to have the job that I want. Now so many things gradually happens once I get older.

TXT!

Texting
I’m addicted to texting I rather text then talk on the cell phone. I just think it’s easier for me to text a lot of people than to call them. I’ve been texting since I was 14 years old, even tough it got me in trouble most of the time in high school because most of my friends and I would text during class. We would text about how was our day and we would plan something during class. Most of our teachers wouldn’t let us take out our cell phones so we would text behind their backs. Now with the smart phone I don’t only text but I also chat from my e-mail or from facebook. I love my smart phone because I keep in touch with my high school friends and also with family and friends from Mexico. The only thing I don’t do is text while driving because one I would get fired from my job if I get a cell phone ticket and second because I’ve been close to cause an accident while texting and driving. Now I just wait till I get home to text or if it’s an emergency I call them and put them on speaker. I don’t think ill ever stop texting because till this day I cant go for a day with out my cell phone.

reality show's...

Reality show’s
I really like watching reality shows, in fact I watch more reality show’s than any other shows even though some could be really bad and just a waist of time. As for me one of my favorite reality shows is called 19 kids and counting (the Duggar family). I like watching it because they have a different way of living than a normal American person and the regular television show’s. Most reality show’s are about people having the time of their life and mostly doing the bad things (drugs and alcohol). Even tough they get more ratings but they don’t have anything positive to teach the society. The Duggar family is more in to their religion, God and their family. They have a reality for to support their family but they also do it to help and teach the society a little more about their way of living.
The Duggar family always asks God and thanks God for everything they have. As for them God always comes first. An average American person has about 2 or 3 children, they all go to school and the parents work. The Duggar family has 19 children and still asks god to bless them with as many children as He saw n His timing. The children don’t go to a school; they get home school by their mother and older siblings. They don’t watch any television unless it’s their own reality show or Christian movies. As for music they only listen to Christian music and each child plays an instrument. As far as their house they built it on their own and it took years to build it. They have their own rules and believe like, when they are dating first they have to ask the parents permission but it’s not a regular dating they believe they shouldn’t do anything like kiss and hug or do anything before marriage. Once they are engaged they get to hold hand and always have a chaperone with them.
I think this reality show should benefit our society because a lot of people are doing the opposite and they show how they live with out television, internet, cell phones, and most of the stuff people cant live with out now. Teenagers now are having babies, drinking alcohol, doing drugs, addicted to other little thing that are not good for their life’s. As for them they don’t need all that to entertain them selves they dedicate them self to god, doing charity work and they become creative by finding things to do on their own. I learn a lot from this reality show, it makes me see everything around me and how I can change a few things about my personal life. I’m Catholic so it does make me think more of God and how I am blessed with everything that God has given me and everything that happens it’s because God feels that’s the way it should be. A lot of people need god in their life because some feel lonely and don’t care about life.

fast food

Fast food

As a child fast food was kind of part of my life. It wasn’t as much as it was when I became older just because my mom is a great cooker so she cooked for my family every day, also because my parents prefer homemade food over fast food. The only way I would eat fast food is when my cousins or uncles would treat us for some. My parents would buy us fast food when ever we would go out as a family or when ever my mom couldn’t be able to cook. So when ever we had a chance to go out they would use that as a reward for my sisters and me. My sisters and I liked McDonalds a lot, we would get the happy meal with cheese burger, French fries and a soda. We liked the happy meals because it came with a toy so that was a big plus for us. Sometimes my mom would treat us with an ice cream cone or French fries just because we made our homework or because we are bored at home. At that time when I had fast food I was happy, satisfied and excited because I had fast food. I think at that age if I could of eat happy meals everyday, I would of done so.

Now I rarely eat McDonalds ever since I watched the movie super size me. That movie changed the way I thought about McDonalds because of what it did to the man that was eating it everyday. Once I got educated on food like the healthy way of eating and how fast food does to you, I try to avoid fast food now. If I do go eat at a fast food restaurant, I try to order a grilled chicken sandwich, small fries incase there is no fruits and drink a lot of water. As a student and having 2 jobs it’s hard to watch what I eat for me it’s easier if I pass by a fast food restaurant to eat something quick before I head to my second job or to school. It’s hard to avoid it fast food now since I make my own money and there’s always friends that want to go out have lunch or dinner.

past present future

My name is Jocelyn Quinones. I am a regular girl from Oxnard, born and raised in Oxnard CA with both my parent’s, I am the second of 4 sisters and I also have a niece. I went to Cesar Chavez elementary, as a kinder student I didn’t like to go to school I would cry for my mom and dad. I even got home school for my 1st grade. In 2nd grade my parents made me go to school and I started making nice friends and that’s when I started liking school. In 3rd grade I got student of the month and student of the year, I was so happy for my self. During junior high I went to Frank school made a lot of new friends and enjoyed it a lot. I would go to every event with my friends. During junior high is when I joined the basketball, volley ball and softball team. During high school I went to Channel Island I played basketball my four years and made it to varsity my junior year. Our team was really good, we got 2nd place in Ventura County. Basketball was like a job for me with out a salary, but I loved and enjoyed playing that game. I enjoyed practice, games and tournament; we would play at big universities. For my summers I would go to Yucatan Mexico where my parents are from. I would be there all summer enjoying the beach and my family; I would come back with a nice dark tan.

After high school now I have 2 jobs, I work for the after school program. I’ve been working for the after school program at Lemonwood Elementary for 5 years now. I enjoy teaching children new thing every day, they also teach me new things too. Since I work as a math leader I actually play math games and read math books. I also help them with homework or with what ever they need. I also work for the Oxnard School district; I sub for Para-Educators teachers’ aid. Working with Autism children is something new to me I actually learn from them a lot, I have learned that every child is special in their own ways. Every child has a different way of learning, you just have to get to know them and have a lot of patience. The only difference about working with Autism children is that they need more attention than the regular children. I also attend school, it is a little difficult having 2 jobs and school but I’m trying my best to focus. I like to go out dancing with my friends, and like to have a lot of fun.

For the future I would love to graduate from Oxnard College, even though I’ve been attending college for a lot of years now because I take only one or two classes a semester I would like to transfer to a university. I would like to become a social worker and help other people with what ever they need. My main goal is becoming a high school counselor, the reason is because when I was in high school I was a little behind credits. I always thought I wasn’t going to graduate high school, I even told my mom I wasn’t going to graduate. Luckily I had a counselor who motivated me do try n do my best and helped me find different ways to make up the credits. My friends pushed me too, we all wanted to graduate on time with our class mates so we helped each other. We all graduated on time class of 2005. I would like to become a counselor like the one I had, become a motivator and a pusher for students that are struggle ling in school or in life.
